The Foreign Musical Competition of SWPU Ended Successfully
The Foreign Musical competition of SWPU——“Touching Memory”, hosted by SWPU Youth League and the Youth League of School of Foreign Languages, was held in the Art Building on the evening of May 10th. Xu Yaping, secretary of the Party Committee and Chen Liping, vice-dean of School of Foreign Languages, attended the final contest together with the teachers of School of Foreign Languages.
Eight groups made their way into the final after the preliminary contest. They have prepared for the final for nearly a month in order to show their passion and proficiency in English. “Pride and Prejudice”, presented by the students from School of Foreign Languages, showed us vividly the true love between Elizabeth and Darcy. “Cinderella” by the students of School of Earth Science and Technology completely aroused the enthusiasm of the audiences with its audacious and creative plot and its exaggerate performance full of true emotions.
In the end, “Cinderella” from School of Earth Science and Technology won the first prize. “Snow White” and the “Pride and Prejudice” won the second prize. “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” and “The Nutcracker” won the third prize and the other teams won the special performance award and the prize for excellence respectively.
红宝石官方网站hbs123外文音乐剧大赛落幕
5月10日晚，由校团委、外国语学院团委主办的外文音乐剧大赛决赛在艺术大楼举行。外语学院党委书记许亚平、外国语学院副院长陈丽平以及外语学院多位中外教师出席本次决赛并担任评委。
外语学院的节目《傲慢与偏见》，表演者把伊丽莎白和达西的爱情演绎得情真意切。地科院的《灰姑娘》表演夸张不失情感，剧情大胆创新，充分调动了现场气氛，这也是他们获得第一名的原因。8支闯入决赛的队伍，耗时近一个月，为我们展现了他们学习外语的激情。
最终，地科院的《灰姑娘》以出色的表演摘得桂冠。《白雪公主》和《傲慢与偏见》获得第二名，《胡桃夹子》和《白雪公主和七个小矮人》获得第三名，其他参赛队伍分别获得特别演出奖和优胜奖。

The 68th Cannes International Film Festival Grandly Kicked off
The 68th Cannes International Film Festival curtained up in Cannes, a coastal city of France on May 13th.
The celebrities in film industry all over the world walked on the red carpet successively with gorgeous evening dresses, including the members of the selection panel, the chief staff of the opening film “Valuable Head”, Julianne Moore, Natalie Portman and etc. . The Chinese actors like Fan Bingbing, Chen Kun and Huang Bo also showed up at the opening ceremony. The French actor Lambert Wilson, who has performed in the Matrix series, hosted the opening ceremony once again.
According to the organizing committee, they have received more than 1,850 films, and only about 50 of them were chosen. The film “Mountains May Depart” directed by the director Jia Zhangke from Chinese mainland and “The Assassin” from the Chinese Taiwan director Hou Xiaoxian will compete for the Golden Palm Award. This International Film Festival will wrap up on May 24th.
第68届戛纳国际电影节拉开帷幕
第68届戛纳国际电影节于2015年5月13日在法国海滨城市戛纳拉开帷幕。
本届电影节首竞赛单元评委会成员、开幕影片《高昂的头》剧组主创人员以及朱利安摩尔、娜塔丽波特曼等来自世界各地的电影人身着各式晚礼服陆续走上红地毯。范冰冰、陈坤、黄渤等中国演员也出席了开幕盛典。曾出演好莱坞科幻系列影片《黑客帝国》的法国男演员朗贝尔威尔逊再度担任电影节开幕式主持人。
根据电影节组委会公布的数据，本届电影节共收到报名影片超过1850部，最终50多部作品被选中。中国大陆导演贾樟柯作品《山河故人》以及中国台湾导演侯孝贤作品《聂隐娘》将参与最佳影片金棕榈奖角逐。本届国际电影节将持续到24号。

Disney CEO Said: iPhone Is the Future of Movies
It is reported on May 14th that most people think the biggest contribution Steve Jobs has made to the film industry is that he founded Pixar Animation Studios. But actually, John Lasseter, CEO of Disney and Pixar, believed that the greatest influence on the film industry lies in the invention of iPhone by Steve Jobs.
"In the near future, the best award-winning movies we are about to see may be filmed by iPhone or GoPro camera." Lasseter said in his address to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Tuesday, “People may say it's impossible, but the truth is that it's quite likely to happen. The reason why people said that is that they are not used to this new way of filming."
Lasseter had no prejudices against Jobs as he made such a prediction. In recent years iPhone camera is getting better and better and is being used everywhere. It can be used as a filming tool in many situations.
In late 2013, Burberry, a famous fashion brand, has used iPhone 5s to shoot its fashion show. Besides, part of the Oscar-winning documentary "Searching for Sugar Man" was also shot by this iPhone.
Shooting by smart iPhone not only means more and more people can enter the film industry and it can also change the way of shooting films with its advantage over the heavy 35mm cameras. Lasseter said “With the advent of GoPro and iPhone, they will bring about unprecedented vitality and a new film era will be born.”
迪士尼CEO：iPhone才是电影的未来
5月14日报道，大多数人都认为，史蒂夫·乔布斯（Steve Jobs）对电影行业的最大贡献就是他创建了皮克斯影视公司。可实际上，迪士尼与皮克斯公司首席执行官约翰·拉塞特（John Lasseter）却认为，乔布斯对电影行业最大的持续影响力可能在于iPhone的发明。
拉塞特周二在美国电影艺术与科学学院发表演讲时称，在不久的将来，我们看到的最好的获奖电影很可能就是通过iPhone或GoPro相机拍摄的。拉塞特说：“人们将会告诉你：‘那是行不通的。’但实际上，这是完全可行的。他们之所以这么说，是因为他们还没有习惯这种方式。”
拉塞特的预测并非对乔布斯存在偏见。多年以来，iPhone相机变得越来越好，几乎无处不在。在许多情况下，它都被当作拍摄工具。

SWPU Launched the Second " Graduation Season , Vigorous Season" Writing Competition
In order to cultivate a wholesome and positive school culture and to offer a self-display platform for the graduates to express their emotions for the coming graduation, the publicity department of school party committee and the Alumnus Association released an official notification on May 7th to start the second essay contest for graduates.
Participants are required to compose either a poem of less than 40 lines or a prose of less than 2,000 words based on the theme of " Graduation Season , Vigorous Season". The essays are supposed to centre on what happens to the authors in SWPU so as to express their sincere affection to the Alma Mater, the instructors and their fellow students.
The sponsors will select 10 first prizes , 20 second prizes and 30 third prizes and the winners will receive honorary certificates and abundant bonus. The essays will be judged by the reflected thoughts and emotions and its language. The winning essays will be separately released on the official newspaper, micro blog, and We-chat of SWPU.

5月7日，校党委宣传部和校友总会发出通知，通知说，为打造健康向上的校友文化，为广大毕业生提供抒发毕业情怀、展示自我风采的平台，校党委宣传部、校友总会从即日起面向全校2015届毕业生开展第二届“毕业季•青春季”主题征文活动。
本届征文活动由校党委宣传部、校友总会联合主办，经济管理学院团委承办，截止日期为6月1日。征文体裁为诗歌、散文两种，要求诗歌在40行以内，散文在2000字以内。应征稿件应围绕与学校相关的人、事、物抒发作者大学几年的母校情、师生情、同窗情。
主办方将评出一等奖10名，颁发荣誉证书及奖金500元；二等奖20名，颁发荣誉证书及奖金300元；三等奖30名，颁发荣誉证书及奖金200元。评选标准重点是看文章表达的思想感情是否真挚、朴实、感人，其次看语言文字是否规范。 获奖稿件将发表在《红宝石官方网站hbs123报》、红宝石官方网站hbs123官方微信、微博上。

Modi's Selfied with Premier Li
“Let’s take a self-pic! Thank you, Premier Li.” Indian Prime Minister Modi updated his micro-blog with an intimate snapshot with Premier Li in Temple of Heaven on May 15th. During his busy three-day visit in China, Modi enjoyed this relaxing moment of walking with Premier Li in Temple of Heaven at his second stop in Beijing. The first agenda for Modi on 15th is to hold a talk with Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang and then they jointly held a press conference. The two leaders witnessed the signing of 24 protocols with a worth of ten billion dollars, covering various fields and industries including education, railway construction and so on, and this can be viewed as a breakthrough in China-India relationship. On the same day, both governments released a joint statement with as many as 41 sections, including the regular exchange visits of the leaders of two counties, which will provide a wider space for bilateral cooperation.
While western media was wondering whether China and India were friends or foes, the friendliness and closeness between the leaders of the two countries presented a “rare chemical reaction” to the world. In the meeting with Modi, Li Keqiang said that China would like to develop a closer cooperative partnership with India. The two nations need to handle sensitive issues properly like boundary problems by using wisdom and intelligence and to establish a cooperation mechanism and framework with negotiations. Both sides should put more efforts on pushing forward bilateral strategic partnership and promoting mutual development to create a real "Asian Century" while ensuring the peace and security in the border areas.

“来自拍!谢谢李总理!”，5月15日印度总理莫迪更新了他的中文微博，发出一张他与李克强在天坛的亲密大头照。在3天访华行程中的第二站北京，与李克强在天坛散步是莫迪紧凑行程表中较轻松的一环。莫迪15日的第一项重要行程是与中国总理李克强举行会谈，并共同会见记者。在两国领导人共同见证下，中印共同签署了总价值高达100亿美元的24项协议，内容涉及教育、铁路建设等诸多方面，堪称中印关系中一项重大突破。当日，两国政府还发表联合声明，内容多达41条，包括两国同意开展国家元首或政府首脑定期访问，这也将为两国合作开辟更为广阔的空间。
