A Perfect Ending to the First “Petroleum Engineering Cup ”I love remembering Vocabulary Competition
On November 23th, the first Petroleum Engineering Cup "I love remembering Vocabulary" Competition, which was jointly organized by the English Salon of the Petroleum Engineering College as well as Voice of Campus was held in the lecture hall of the library.
The competition was divided in to six rounds and contestants were segmented into five teams. After several rounds of fierce competition, there were only four contestants stayed on the stage. In order to relieve the tension and put other people at ease, the sponsor invited Li Changjian to perform a song named "The second you sleep". After a short break, the competition went straight to round five and the difficulty of correct spelling rose. Finally, Yong Haiyan, who came from the Petroleum Engineering College became the winner of the contest. During the whole competition, the audience were all enthusiastic, while some of them even made spontaneous organizations to encourage the contestants.
The awarding ceremony was held at the end of the competition. The Petroleum Engineering College, the Foreign Language College, and the Chemistry and Chemical Engineering College were respectively awarded the first, second and third prize.
Yong Haiyan, who has won the champion said:" I feel very nervous during the competition, but I'm honored to participate in it . This competition is really a challenge for me. "She also recommended that, "Remembering the basic English vocabulary is of vital importance in English learning, so we can never work by fits and starts when memorizing words."
石工院杯“我爱记单词”总决赛圆满落幕
11月23日，由石工院学生会英语沙龙和“校园之声”外语调频电台联合组织举办的“我爱记单词”决赛在图书馆报告厅正式开始。
本次比赛共有六个回合。选手们被分为五个队伍。经过几轮比赛，赛场上只剩下四名选手。为了舒缓比赛的紧张情绪并使观众放松，主办方特地邀请了李昌建演唱《The second you sleep》。短暂的表演后，比赛直接进入Round5，单词拼写的难度有了进一步的提升。终于，经过激烈的比拼，石工院选手雍海燕最终获得优胜。比赛过程中，观众们也热情洋溢，更有人组织位选手们加油。
最后进行颁奖环节，石工、外语、化工院分别获得一、二、三等奖。
获胜选手雍海燕说：“在决赛过程中，我感到十分紧张，同时也很荣幸能够出赛。这次比赛对我而言是一种锻炼。”她还总结道：“单词记忆在英语学习的过程中是至关重要的，因此我们不能够松懈单词记忆。”

“Doctor Forum” of Petroleum Engineering Collage held
“Doctor Forum” of Petroleum Engineering Collage was held in Mingli Building B306, on November 13rd. The lecture hall was crowded with students then.
Professor Wang Guo, once the chairman of the Association of Students and Scholars and now a teacher by profession in the School of History and Culture in Sichuan University, said during the lecture,” We are undergoing the third revolution----The Information Revolution. We are destined to regard industrious revolution as the foundation and at the meantime, combine the economic development with the industrial revolution. Time determines whether the disparity between urban and rural areas will be tackled or not. He also pointed out that as a boasting prosperous metropolis, Chengdu is still facing many problems concerning urban and rural inequality, which calls for concerted efforts of several generations.
“After Mr. Wang’s sharing, I gain a lot of thoughts and feelings. Science and technology are the primary productive forces, and that is why we are supposed to learn more advanced scientific knowledge and culture to benefit our society in return.” said Li Xiaoxiao from the school of Petroleum Engineering.
石工院“博士论坛”开讲
11月13日，石油与天然气工程学院“博士论坛”在明理楼B306召开，前来听讲座学习的同学将报告厅挤满。
王果教授曾任全国学联主席，现在四川大学历史文化学院任教。在讲座过程中，他说：“我们现在正在经历第三次革命——信息化革命，我们应该以勤劳革命为基础，同时结合工业革命的经济发展。究竟城乡差距问题能否得到解决，需要时间来检验。”他提出，成都作为经济繁荣的大都市仍然存在许多城乡问题，这就需要几代人共同努力去解决。
“听了王果老师的分享，感触良多，科学技术是第一生产力，我们就应该多学习一些先进的科学知识文化，回馈社会。”石工院李肖肖同学说。

China Announced Strategic Petroleum Reserve for the First Time
On November 21st, the Financial Times said that China first announced the strategic petroleum reserve, which showed China would like to open the domestic energy market further for a comprehensive influence in the global oil market.
Chinese President Xi Jinping said, "In order to implement the agreement, which was reached between American and Chinese energy officials this summer，China will regularly proclaim information about strategic petroleum reserve."Meanwhile, NBS(National Bureau of Statistics) of China declared that national oil reserve phase one had already been completed.
Fluctuating prices usually base on the data of stock. Therefore, the data are vital to the global oil market. What’s more, China repeatedly suffered from fluctuating prices in global oil market due to the lack of Chinese elements in international oil prices . Thus, publishing the domestic stock regularly will be expected to increase the discourse power during the global oil market price formation.
The Managing director of Facts Global Energy in Asia，Wu Kang，said, "This, of course, is a positive move. Moreover, as an ideal opportunity, crude oil prices fell in Autumn which has encouraged China to enrich the strategic reserve with a sounder system."
中国首次公布石油战略储备
北京时间11月21日，英国《金融时报》报道称，中国首次公开石油战略储备，显示中国将进一步开放国内能源市场，增强全球原油市场影响力。
中国国家主席习近平表示，中国将开始定期发布有关其战略石油储备的信息，落实今年夏天美国和中国能源官员达成的一项协议。国家统计局也公布，国家石油储备一期工程已经完成，在4个国家石油储备基地储备原油1243万吨。
库存数据对于石油交易和定价非常重要。库存数据不公开，极易引起国际市场油价大起大落，国际油价缺少“中国因素”，使中国在国际油价波动中吃尽苦头。定期发布国内库存有望提升中国在全球石油市场价格形成中的话语权。
今秋原油价格下滑可能为中国提供了一个机会，使其能够以比过去更为系统化的方式充实战略储备。费氏全球能源咨询公司(Facts Global Energy)亚洲董事总经理吴康称，“这与新一届领导班子以市场为导向和提高透明度的努力有关，是一个积极的步骤。”

A Devastating Earthquake Struck Kangding County
On November 22th, five to five p.m., a devastating earthquake, with a focal depth of approximately 18 kilometers, unexpectedly struck Kangding county , which was located in the Tibetan autonomous prefecture of Ganzi, Sichuan province. According to the preliminary statistics, this disaster has caused 5 deaths, 54 injuries, 79,000 victims, along with several wrecks of dwellings until 6p.m. of the next day. The entrance to Balang Valley was also blocked due to the earthquake.
Directly after the earthquake, President Xi Jinping, who was paying a visit to Fiji, urged relevant governments to spare no effort to organize rescue and relief work as soon as possible, aiming to reduce the number of casualties to the least. The armed forces should also actively assist and cooperate with relevant departments to get along with subsequent rescue work and avoid secondary disasters. Residents of the quake-hit area ought to be guaranteed with sufficient necessities and accommodations to undergo the adversity.
Up to now, 11 medical detachments including 886 medical staff and 104 anti-epidemic personnel have already arrived in the quake-hit area, carrying out rescue and anti-epidemic work in full operation . 四川省甘孜州康定县发生6.3级地震
北京时间11月22日16时55分，四川省甘孜藏族自治州康定县境内（北纬30.3度，东经101.7度）发生6.3级地震，震源深度约18公里。据初步统计，截至23日18时，已造成5人死亡，54人受伤，7.9万人受灾，部分房屋倒塌，省道211线巴郎沟口道路中断。
地震发生后，正在斐济访问的中共中央总书记、国家主席、中央军委主席习近平立即作出指示，要求四川省和民政部等有关部门迅速组织力量，全力开展抢险救援，尽最大努力减少人员伤亡。军队、武警等有关方面要积极配合、大力支持地方开展抢险救灾工作。要加强震情监测，密切防范次生灾害。要妥善做好受灾群众安置工作，保障基本生活，确保安全过冬。
目前，到达地震灾区的医疗队已达11支。省、州（市）、县参与医疗救治的专业医护人员共886人，卫生防疫工作人员104人, 各医疗急救队也已在各救援点开展救援和防疫工作。愿逝去的生命得到安息，愿生者更加坚强地面对生活！

Sun Yang: Banned for Doping
World champion swimmer Sun Yang was banned for three months after failing a doping test. It is trimetazidine that has been tested in his drug tests which has been banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency since January.Accordingly, Sun was disqualified for his championship and fined RMB5000 in the national swimming championships in Hangzhou.
However, it was proved that the medications he had taken to treat heart attacks contained the doping. His purpose is not to improve the performance ability, but to cure the disease. Consequently , in consideration of the misuse of the banned substances，the Chinese Swimming Association banned him from swimming competitions for 3 months instead of 2 years. “I always believe that people rely on their own strengths for success in the swimming pool.” Sun said, “This incident shocked me and gave me great stress. What’s more, it reminds me to treasure my life and makes me realize the importance of promoting anti-doping for athletes.”
奥运会游泳冠军孙杨在一次尿检中被查出使用了违禁物质，遭禁赛三个月处罚。在他的尿检中查出了曲美他嗪，此物质于今年一月刚刚被列入世界反兴奋剂机构(WADA)禁用清单。随后孙杨在全国游泳冠军赛上的1500米冠军头衔被取消并罚款5000元。
然而后经证实发现，是他使用的改善心肌缺血的药品中含有违禁物质。孙杨的初衷并不是为了提高运动成绩，而是因为某种伤病的需要进行用药。考虑到误用药品而导致违规的情况，中国游泳协会将孙杨的禁赛时间减为三个月而非两年。“我一直认为，在泳池中就要凭自己的实力来取得成绩，”孙杨表示。“这次事件让我震惊沮丧，也感受到了巨大的压力，同时也让我更加珍惜自己的运动生命，认识到反兴奋剂对我们运动员的重要性。”
