A Glimmer of Hope of Improving Sino-Japanese Relations
Hoping for improving Sino-Japanese relations, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held a meeting in Beijing ahead of the 22nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Meeting on November 10th to 11th. It has been the first meeting between Chinese and Japanese leaders since bilateral relations, following a number of disputes over historical and territorial issues became strained over the past two years.
In 2012, the Japanese Government announced its "purchasing" of the Diaoyu Islands, part of China's territory, which prompted China to issue a stern rebuke. Aside from territorial disputes, the Japanese Government has made some other ill-considered movements. Historical bad blood between the two sides has also complicated current relations.
During the meeting, Xi again stressed the political basis for improving Sino-Japanese relations, “The Japanese Government must follow the four political agreements between China and Japan and honor the commitments made by successive Japanese administrations ”, said president Xi.
All in all, despite a promising signal, steep obstacles still remain in the way of improving Sino-Japanese political ties. But president Xi’s statements fully represented the dignities and determined attitude of China as a superpower. So there is reason to believe that Chinese government is capable of solving all possible conditions and defending our hallowed sovereignty.
改善中日关系的一线希望
为了改善中日关系，中国国家主席习近平与日本首相安倍晋三于11月10日到11日，亚太经合组织领导人大会召开之前，在北京进行了会晤。这是中日领土问题和历史遗留问题进一步恶化的两年以来双方领导人的首次会晤。
2012年，日本政府无视中国主权，提出“购买”钓鱼岛狂言，这一事件遭到中国人民的强烈谴责。除领土问题之外，日本政府还提出一系列欠缺考虑的政治敏感话题。历史遗留的罪恶也使得今天的中日关系更加复杂。
会晤期间，习近平总书记再次强调中日关系的政治基础，他说：“日本政府必须遵守中日之间达成的四项政治协议，必须尊重往届日本政府订立的和平协议。”
无论如何，尽管这次会晤为中日关系的改善点亮了一丝希望，但陡峭的障碍仍然阻挡在中日的和平之路上。值得一提的是，习总书记在会上的讲话充分展现了中国的大国风范和尊严。因此我们有绝对的理由相信中国政府有能力处理好一切可能发生的状况，保护我们的主权不被侵犯。

The 5th National Seminar of Constructing Urban Underground Space Majors Held in SWPU
On Nov.8th, the 5th National Seminar of Constructing Urban Underground Space Major was held in SWPU. Zhao Zhengwen, vice secretary of the party, attended the conference and delivered a speech.
Nearly 100 representatives from more than 30 colleges with the Urban Underground Space Engineering Major attended the seminar. They came from the traffic, mining, water, electricity, petroleum and other industry background. Ma Shiwei, director of the science and technology department in Southwest China Railway Cooperation was invited to attend this seminar. In addition, Sun Shiguo, Zhang Jianhai and Yang Xueqiang, who are professors of NCUT, SCU and GDUT all gave a speech about the construction of the major in their own universities.
Professor Liu Jianjun and associate professor Wang Yue of our university reported successively about Several Problems with the Discipline and the Construction of Major and etc.. Finally, professor Liu Jianjun made a conclusion of the meeting. The meeting decided that the 6th seminar would be held in Anhui University of Science and Technology next year.
第五届全国城市地下空间工程专业建设研讨会在红宝石官方网站hbs123举行
11月8日，第五届全国城市地下空间工程专业建设研讨会在红宝石官方网站hbs123召开。校党委副书记赵正文出席研讨会并致辞。
来自交通、矿业、水电、石油等行业背景的30余所设置城市地下空间工程专业高校的近100名代表参加了研讨会，中铁西南科学研究有限公司科技处处长马世伟应邀出席。北方工业大学孙世国教授、四川大学张建海教授、广东工业大学杨雪强教授等10所高校的代表作了本校的专业建设报告。
红宝石官方网站hbs123刘建军教授、王钺副教授先后作了《关于学科与专业建设若干问题》、《城市地下空间工程开发利用趋势与评估》的学术报告。最后，刘建军教授进行了会议总结。
会议决定，明年第六届研讨会由安徽理工大学承办。

20 SWPU Marathon amateurs
Attended the International Marathon Competition
On November 9th, the first International Marathon Competition, which had drawn extensive attention, embraced its opening ceremony in the wetland of Qiong Hai ,Sichuan province. Approximately 20,000 athletes and marathon amateurs from 25 countries and regions participated in this competition, including the 52-year-old supervisor doctoral, Zhang Tinshan，along with 20 other marathon amateurs of SWPU.
In order to enter for this competition, marathon amateurs had made spontaneous organizations, enrolled themselves in advance, as well as got round to undergoing severe trainings. They also departed to Xi Chang 2 days ahead of the competition to receive relative equipments. He Yongqi, a sophomore from physical education major, ranked a historic 13 with a total of 1 hour 19 minutes, superior to the rest of applicants of SWPU.
"I have squeezed insufficient time and gone to the gymnasium to enhance my leg strength for a better result . Throughout the competition, my companions and I encouraged and aligned with each other，which stimulated me a deeper passion for Marathon." Hu Yiwen, the only lady from Engineering Management Major said.
红宝石官方网站hbs12320名跑步爱好者赴西昌参加国际马拉松赛
11月9日，四川首届国际马拉松在西昌邛海湿地鸣枪开跑。此次赛事一共吸引了25个国家或地区的近2万名运动员和马拉松爱好者参与其中。红宝石官方网站hbs123地科院52岁博士生导师张廷山，土建院、体育学院、法学院等7个学院共20名跑步爱好者也参与其中。
为了参加此次马拉松比赛，红宝石官方网站hbs123跑步爱好者自发组织，提前在赛事官网上报名，利用业余时间进行训练，并于11月7日，提前两天到达西昌领取比赛装备。比赛当天，红宝石官方网站hbs12320名参赛选手均顺利完成比赛，2012体育教育专业的贺永齐同学以1小时19分的取得了半程组全国第十三名的好成绩。
“这是我第一次参加这种国际性的马拉松赛，因为前几天生病，身体一直没有调整好，跑到30多公里的时又出现大腿抽筋，但一直告诉自己不要给自己留下遗憾，所以我还是咬牙坚持下来了，现在回味起来觉得一切都是值得的！”来自体院13级的张立明赛后说。
“为了这次马拉松，我每天都会抽时间去健身房训练腿部力量，整个比赛过程中，我和我的队友相互鼓劲，并肩作战，也令我对马拉松更多了一份热爱。”作为此次唯一一名女生，来自12级工程管理专业的胡艺文说道

The Comet Lander Philae: facing charging problem
On November 13th, the scientists of ESA said that the landing site of the Philae was located in the shadow of the cliff, and therefore it would face the charging problem.
ESA posted the first set of photos after Philae landing on the comet. It showed that the surface of the comet is rough, and one of Philae’s tentacles appeared in the photos.
Jean Pierre Poplan, the scientist of ESA, said that Philae itself had power reserve of 64 hours. If solar panels run well, it will have an extra hour of electricity per day. However, "It just entered the shadow of the cliff...and this is one of the problems".
Poplan said scientists would study a feasible project of Philae to get enough sunlight, "Maybe we'll try to adjust solar panels’ orientation, to see if Philae can get extra power.”
Poplan also said that there was another problem that Philae failed to hold on to the surface. There was a tentacle in a non-stressed condition. And people worried if it would go back into space. Fortunately, all equipments run normally.
"Many instruments have get things they want." Poplan said, "Lots of science experiments have been completed."
彗星着陆器“菲莱”着陆阴影区 充电遇难题
欧洲航天局科学家13日说，欧航局彗星着陆器“菲莱”在彗星上的着陆点位于一处峭壁的阴影下，因而面临太阳能电池板的充电难题。
欧航局当天公布“菲莱”登陆后的首组照片，显示彗星表面地形坎坷，而“菲莱”的其中一个“触手”出现在照片角落。
航天局科学家让—皮埃尔·比布兰说，“菲莱”本身带有64小时电力储备，而太阳能电池板运行顺利的话可以额外提供每天1小时的电量。不过，“我们刚好进入一个峭壁的阴影下……这是其中一个问题”。
比布兰说，科学家将研究让“菲莱”获得足够阳光的可行性方案，“我们也许会试着调整太阳能电池板的朝向”，看“菲莱”能否获得额外电力。
比布兰说，“菲莱”面临的另一个问题是着陆时没能“抓牢”表面，有一个“触手”处于非受力状态。这一情况引发外界关于“菲莱”可能重新“飘”回太空的担忧。所幸的是，各类仪器设备运行正常。
“不少仪器已经获得它们希望获得的东西，”比布兰说，“不少科学（实验）已经完成。”

SWPU Students on Nanchong Campus Served in APEC
From Nov. 10th to 11th, 2014, the remarkable APEC---Leadership Summit was held in Beijing. The success of the meeting can never be accomplished without the professional servants in obscurity that included graduates Ma Jing, Yan Xiaoli and internal student Yang Jia from SWPU in Nan Chong. During the preparation and the meeting, all of them completely demonstrated the mien of the students from SWPU. They earned the praise from the committee for their professional skills and high-class services.
There were 500 servants in all worked for the meeting. All three students from SWPU were recommended by the Kempinski Hotel where they took their internship. Their talents stuck out themselves after several selections.
Ma Jing, Yan Xiaoli and Yang Jia laid emphasis on the comprehensive abilities while they enhanced the theoretical study. “Thanks for the education from the university and teachers. That’s exactly why we could get this opportunity to work for the APEC this time. Being a part of this activity trained my skills ,broadened my horizon, and it also brought me closer to those political leaders.” Said Ma Jing.
SWPU in Nan Chong has devoted itself to training professional people for high star-level hotels and catering enterprise. Since 2010, the major called hotel management has been built in the university. With the establishment of the labs and the perfection of training conditions, most of the students have got the qualification certificates of bartenders and the national tea masters of level two.
南充学子服务2014年APEC会务
全世界瞩目的2014年APEC领导人峰会11月10日至11日在北京举行，会议的成功离不开那些默默无闻的专业会务服务者，这其中就有红宝石官方网站hbs123南充校区酒店管理专业毕业生马静、焉小莉和在校生杨佳。在会议筹办和举办期间，他们以优异的表现充分展现了西南石大学子的风采，以良好的专业技能和优质服务赢得了组委会的肯定。
总共有500名专业会务服务人员参加了2014年APEC领导人峰会会务服务工作。三名来自西南石大的学生通过实习单位成都凯宾斯基酒店推荐，经过层层选拔，从而脱颖而出。
马静的三名同学在平时加强理论学习的同时，非常注重综合能力的锻炼和提高。“感谢学校及老师们的培养，我们才有这次服务APEC峰会的机会。参加此次活动不仅锻炼了自己的能力，拓宽了自立的视野，还拉进了自己与政界领导人的距离。”马静说到。
南充校区酒店管理专业从2010年建立以来，一直致力于培养能从事高星级酒店、餐饮企业的专业人才。随着实验室的建立和实训条件的完善，大多数学生已经拿到了国家二级茶艺师和调酒师的资格证书。
