Izumi Yasuo is a professor and PhD supervisor at the Graduate School of Science, Chiba University, Japan. He completed his bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees at the University of Tokyo. He has conducted research and teaching at various institutions, including Stanford University, Tokyo Institute of Technology, and Keio University. His main research focuses on theoretical and technical studies of photocatalytic CO2reduction, selective oxidation of small molecules, and photo fuel cells.Additionally, he conducts research on the development of techniques such as in-situ spectroscopy-mass spectrometry coupling and in-situ synchrotron radiation X-ray absorption spectroscopy.Professor Yasuo Izumiis one of the leaders in the world for sustainable photocatalysts, and reported some review/book chapters for CO2photoconversion and CO preferable oxidation reactions.
报告内容摘要:
Spectroscopy basically monitors surface species at the steady state and surface sites to support the species. In contrast, Professor Yasuo Izumi studied the pathway to photoconversion of CO2using density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The importance of oxygen vacancy site (VO••) on ZrO2and/or TiO2suggested by13CO2photoexchange reaction was proved by DFT calculations. True reaction pathway was found to O–C–O–H formation followed by the reaction at VO••filled by the O atom and the remained C–O–H species hopped onto metal nanoparticles (Ag, Ni, Co, etc.) for the hydrogenation.
