报告人简介:林涛(Tao Lin)教授1990年在怀俄明大学取得博士学位,1989年在弗吉尼亚理工大学数学系受聘为助理教授,2001年起担任教授。林涛教授是计算数学和科学计算方面的专家。他的研究兴趣涉及偏微分方程和积分微分方程的数值求解方法,尤其是在界面问题的浸入式有限元方法及其应用方面取得了开创性的研究成果。
报告内容摘要:
Immersed finite element (IFE) methods offer the flexibility to employ a mesh independent of the interface where a partial differential equation (PDE) model either changes its coefficients or its type. This presentation will show how this particular attribute of IFE methods provides distinct advantages in numerous applications. We will begin with a concise introduction to IFE methods and subsequently delve into three representative applications:
(1) Interface problems involving a single physics model in a domain comprising multiple materials.
(2) Interface problems for multiple physics models, each located in distinct sub-domains within a simulation domain.
(3) Interface inverse problems for the identification or determination of material interfaces based on boundary measurements within a simulation domain.
